The BJ-1000 is a wall-mounted UV-C air disinfector for ophthalmic operating rooms and eye surgery suites. It draws room air through a sealed disinfection chamber, exposes it to high-intensity 253.7 nm ultraviolet lamps and returns filtered, disinfected air to the room. Each unit is rated for indoor spaces of 100 m³.
Air disinfection for the ophthalmic operating room
Eye surgery teams work in a closed room with staff and patients present throughout the surgical list. Because the UV lamps are sealed inside the cabinet and no UV light leaves the unit, the BJ-1000 can run continuously during surgery, between cases and during room turnover, supporting ongoing air disinfection without clearing the room.
How it works
UV-C light at 253.7 nm damages the DNA and RNA of microorganisms and inactivates them. This is a physical disinfection method that adds no chemicals to the room. A built-in circulation fan draws air into the disinfection chamber, where it is exposed to the UV lamps before it is returned to the room. The high-efficiency filter and activated carbon filter help reduce dust, PM2.5, formaldehyde, TVOC, benzene and other airborne pollutants, and a negative ion function supports air cleaning.
Operation with people present
The UV lamps are ozone-free. The manufacturer states an ozone concentration in room air below 0.1 mg/m³ during operation. The unit runs without odor and does not corrode surrounding equipment, and a low-noise volute fan keeps operation quiet in the operating room.
Control, monitoring and maintenance
Five fan speeds and nine programmable time periods allow timed automatic disinfection to follow the surgical schedule, and user settings are memorized. The unit is operated by infrared remote control and has a digital display. A UV intensity display, automatic UV fault detection and an accumulated-time maintenance alarm help staff monitor lamp status and plan filter and lamp servicing. Long-life UV germicidal lamps, a high-quality ballast and an anti-interference metal housing support stable operation.
Important use note
The BJ-1000 supplements air disinfection in ophthalmic operating rooms. It does not replace the operating room’s ventilation and air-handling requirements, routine environmental cleaning and surface disinfection, or the validated sterilization and reprocessing of ophthalmic instruments. Install and operate the unit according to the manufacturer’s instructions and applicable local requirements. Direct exposure to UV sources is not permitted.
