Portable diagnostics: matching the device to the screening task

Portable devices bring eye examinations to schools, community programs, wards and remote sites where a full exam room is not available. The right choice depends on what you need to measure: refractive error, retinal images or intraocular pressure.

ENOCHTEC offers three portable devices that cover these three screening tasks and can be combined into a mobile screening kit.

Questions to answer before you choose

  1. Who are you screening? Children and large groups benefit from fast, distance-based refractive screening such as the C10.
  2. What happens after a positive screen? Plan the referral path to a full refraction or clinical exam before the program starts.
  3. How will data be collected? Check Wi-Fi, USB or printer output for each device and how results reach your records.

Portable diagnostics FAQ

Is a vision screener the same as a full refraction?

No. A screener such as the C10 flags people who need further assessment; a full refraction in a refraction room determines the final prescription.

Does the RT-500 need anaesthetic drops?

Rebound tonometry uses a light disposable probe that touches the cornea briefly, and is generally performed without anaesthetic. Follow your clinical protocol.

Can these devices be quoted as one screening kit?

Yes. Tell us the program size and locations and we will quote the devices, accessories and consumables together.

Planning a screening program?

Tell us who you will screen, where and how many people per day. We will recommend a portable kit and send a quotation.
