Auto Refractors & Keratometers

Auto refractors and autorefractor keratometers support fast objective refraction and, on selected models, corneal curvature measurement. Compare ENOCHTEC configurations for clinics, optical practices and screening workflows.

Auto refractor keratometers: how to choose

An auto refractor keratometer measures the eye’s refractive error objectively and, in K mode, the curvature of the cornea. The results give a starting point for subjective refraction and support contact-lens and pre-operative workflows.

ENOCHTEC offers five models. They differ mainly in how the instrument is aligned (joystick or automatic tracking), the display and connectivity, and whether axial length can be measured.

Questions to answer before you choose

  1. How many patients per day? Automatic tracking and positioning speed up pre-testing and reduce dependence on operator skill.
  2. Do you need keratometry? Contact-lens fitting and cataract workflows need corneal curvature; confirm the K configuration.
  3. Do you run a myopia-management program? The FRS-810 adds axial-length measurement to refraction and keratometry.
  4. How will results reach your records? Compare printer, Bluetooth, LAN and USB options.

Auto refractor FAQ

What is the difference between an auto refractor and an autorefractor keratometer?

An auto refractor measures refractive error only. An autorefractor keratometer also measures corneal curvature (keratometry).

Does an auto refractor replace subjective refraction?

No. It provides an objective starting point; the final prescription is refined with a phoropter or trial lenses.

Which model measures axial length?

The FRS-810 combines objective refraction, keratometry and an 11.5–42.0 mm axial-length range in one tabletop instrument.

What minimum pupil size is required?

The ARK-900, ARK-8900, ARK-710 and FRS-810 specify a minimum pupil of 2.0 mm.

Not sure which auto refractor fits your practice?

Tell us your patient volume, workflow and record system. We will recommend a model and send a quotation.
